Another wheel and tire thread

So, I stopped by a wheel shop to peek at some options, and I'd really like to go to 18x8" wheels all the way around. I didn't have the 'Port with me to do any test fits, but the guy seems to think I'll have rubbing issues if I go 18x8 with 0 offset and 4.5" backspace and a 235 wide tire.

Does anyone have 18's on their slab with skirts?

18x7,I just liked the other rims, these are a normal bolt on with no issues

How much room do you have left between the outside of the tire, and the inside of the sheet metal?

Thanks, that eliminates going to an 8" wheel, unless I have a lower offset.

I found in another thread that someone was able to put 18x8.5 with 4.5" backspace on a '68 300 with a 245-45-18 tires, and it doesn't scrub anything. I won't be going with such a short sidewall, I'd like to keep it in at least a 50 series. Thinking 235-55-18 for now. I keep bouncing around with wheels, but think I finally settled on a set. Hopefully by next week, it will all be squared away.
