AVS fuel line routing

I'm wondering what the proper routing is for the metal fuel line from the fuel pump to an AVS carb? I'm switching from a Holley. I found a picture online, but I don't know what is "correct". I looked up the line on inline tube as well, but without it installed it's a little hard to tell. I have a metal filter on the front on my engine so I don't want to buy the tube from inline and then cut it. Plus I have metal like from when I replaced all of the other lines.

On my 65 polara my line looks exactly like that picture. The metal line runs down to the fuel filter and is connected by a small piece of rubber line between them.
