Barn find Beretta

With a fake convertible roof yet...:poke:

And in 2018, they are still installing them down here. :BangHead:
It was a real vert. That pic was after the custom $1800 top I had put on in 2016. It was a V6, and when it was running, it was fun to drive. Unfortunately, most of last summer was spent chasing 1990’s electrical gremlins, then the torque converter decided to go. With only 138k, I pushed it into the lot at CarMax and they gave me $100 for it. After 9 years of annual problems I had had enough.

I'd say the Schill got you :poke:...

Under different circumstances, that would be a good possibility, but I've known the guy running this auction for almost 30 years now. It's not unusual for the serious bidders to wait for the lightweights to finish up, just like you see on ebay all the time. My competitor looked like a Chevy guy, someone who owns some Camaros or a Monte SS, and might be looking for a fuel efficient beater or maybe something for his kid. I think it's just that I often have bad luck at auctions. I had my eye on and old bearing puller that I thought no one else would be interested in, but one other guy found it too, and I could tell that the sky was the limit when he was bidding, so I had to let that one go. That was the only item that he wanted, and left the auction as soon as he won it.

Ouch! You did take a hit on that one. Sorry to hear that. On the positive side, there aren't any Sunbirds on my wanted list, so at least you didn't miss out on an easy sale. One of you neighbors does own one of the obscure cars that is on my list, but his looks way too rough, and that's the Alfa Romeo 164 that's a few houses down from you if I remember correctly.

We got our enjoyment out of it. Originally picked it up for $800 from the original owners in 2009 (I knew the car from when it was new).

Wow, good eye and memory regarding the Alpha! You were here, what, for all of an hour, LOL? Yeah, I don’t know the story on that one, I don’t really know them. We’re here 13 years and it has never moved from that spot.

13 years in one spot. I'll definitely pass on that one.
