Hey guys,

I'm going to get the back half of the 71 media blasted so we can see just how much rust there is...I keep telling myself it's only money...my question is what's the best and safest way to remove the body length side mouldings? I have one of those harbour freight type trim removal kits, I'm expecting some clips to break, I did find a site making the clips ages ago but can't remember it. I'd like to keep the mouldings as they do suit that body style.

No special way to do it. Read the FSM and determine where the clips or speed nuts are. Gently pry for the plastic clips. Remove the speed nuts from behind the panel (usually speed nuts were used on front fenders).

There are some nuts, usually at the front or both ends. You will destroy the trim if you try to pry off where the nuts are. So take some time and look for them on the back of the panels.

Belt line trim is on top of the door and quarters next to the window glass.
