Holy Ford do f150 rot out sills rapidly.
Helping out a friend.
Ford wanted 600 for dr side
2700 for pass side
Had 18 ga inners bent and 20 ga routers bent locally for 100ish
Outer tacked on and will be finished today.
Goal is rocker guard around bottom edge of truck so not too fussy of finish

Pic of it clean wont load but this is what was residing behind inner fender and along sills. Going to drill for plugs to allow cleaning and oiling. This is a 2010 f150

Nice work! I need to do some of this work on my ‘01 van.

It dumbfounds me how fast the newer cars can rot if not rust treated right from the get go...

Yea a friend of mine has a 2010 F150 and it is rotting out in the same places quickly. He is going to trade it in before it looks bad he says. Although my 2004 Tundra Double cab's frame rusted and was replaced by Toyota under warranty [huge job apparently that cost Toyota $10,000 per] the body is sound. Lot's of guys in my area use Fluid Film. Spray in on every year and it seems to work well and doesn't attack rubber like oil does.

When I got my 08 F150 I had gone over it and it was spotless.
Low K's & driven by an older farmer for a get around town truck plus they had installed one of them electronic gizmos that everyone thinks doesn't work.
I immediately had it under oiled since I planned to drive it year round.

I only sold it to get away from the 5spd gearbox
I miss it.

Before pic
I have no doubt if cleaned and oiled it would still be fine. Oddly ford taped over access holes inside rockets. If you dont go in there you really cant get oil in deep.
My recommendation to him is we drill a few drain holes in outers and leave access to inners. Wash and oil spray regularly after that.

I can almost fit my whole hand in this rust hole in my Toyota daily driver, I already have the equipment to fix it... Hope to get it fixed (patched) before winter
