So I know the specification of the factory '73 U code 440, but what would you guys suggest as a mild step up in performance? Factory U code is

0.464" Exh. Valve Lift; 0.449" Int. Valve Lift; Hydraulic; (050) Duration at .050 Lobe Lift; 225 Exh.; 214 Int.; 115 Degrees Lobe Separation

A friend suggested a '70 426 Street Hemi Grind cam would be a good boost in performance.

melling stage 1 or 2...putting 2 on my stock rebuild u code..heard nothing but good so far for a cam lve never heard of before....

At a very minimum 383/440 resto cam P4452783 for any rebuild. Because you are young but still more sensible than I was at your age I would put that Hemi grind in there P4452993. If you want to be as stupid/foolish as I was/am the P4120237 will aggrivate the neighbors and make people look up from their ice cream cones at the local Dairy Queen-whatever, you will just have to put it into nuetral at red lights and don't hit the power brake multiple times in a row.

I also thought about a Advertised Duration 280/280, Lift .480/.480? think that's as decent as the Hemi Grind? I just don't want anything too aggressive, just want a little hotter 440 then a stock '73 440 U code, the engines already have a legendary status, I just want to reinforce it.

I have the 0235, 284/484 cam in my Challenger with power brakes and stock for now converter. It really needs a converter to make it more driveable of course I am going to go overboard and put my 10" in there because I have lost interest in having it docile, I just want it to look that way.

They had power brakes on Hemicars and a 11" converter, little looser than a stock one but still cheap.

Basically my specs are;
'73 Truck block, standard bore, .010" undersize forged steel crank
'73 U code exhaust manifolds
'73 factory intake
'74 thermoquad
'75 452 heads with a port and polish
'75 Dual snorkel air cleaner.
Factory style 2.5" dual exhaust with turbo mufflers (quietish would be nice)

All parts (intake, heads, exhaust manifolds) are going to be gasket matched.

The 727 will have a stock stall, but will have upgraded clutches and bands, and a shift kit.

All of this will feed into a 8 3/4 with 3.23 open gear set.

I have the Comp 480/280 cam in my 440 with 452 heads (bone-stock NOS score) and MP dual plane intake and HP manifolds, 2.5" TTI exhaust. Open air cleaner. 0.030 over (4.350 bore) with JE Pistons. Edlebrock 750 with manual choke.

Rear wheel dyno with bent rim and running too rich was 204 RWHP.

with 3.55 suregrip i can't spin the tires, 15" cop rims with 255 Radial TA. B&M shift kit and 1800 RPM stall converter.

I feel like i'm missing about 80-90 RWHP.

I would hit the easy tune stuff first. Rockers down too tight? Timing off? Firing order correct? Vacuum leaks? Plugs toast?

Too rich at WOT on a eddy carb? Should be lean check timing and ditch the air cleaner. Also insure throttle is opening fully with pedal.

Unless you plan on changing your torque convertor and your gear ratio I would stick with as close to stock as possible. Mopar Kit# P4452783 would work good. You wont gain any real advantage from going any bigger.
