Can any carburetor/linkage whizzes out there explain (from looking at this pic) what part of the linkage actuates the "kick down" action needed to pass a slower vehicle whilst on the highway??...where is this adjusted at?? I just installed a new Edelbrock AVS and everything went hunkey dorey EXCEPT the downshift seems to come on way to early, and then I'm like in 3rd gear forever trying to complete a pass around a slower vehicle. I once had a 70' Plymouth Sport Fury with a 383 and I swear that car could be doing 45-50 miles per hour and kick down to a lower gear and it felt like booster rockets just kicked in. Anyone familiar with this?? Thanks for any expertise.

I remember reading this on the Dock a few months back. I printed it out this time to put with my manuals. Thanks for the reminder!

I truly don't believe in 'competiiton' among forums. You can't learn everything from a single source. No such thing as too much info when it comes to C-bodies. I enjoy them all and feel it's a community of forums that we should all support. Ea. one has their 'style' and personalty and it's all good.

What I found disgusting as a Vette Boy was the animosity between the two major forums, DigitalCorvettes.com and CorvetteForum.com.
The immaturity of the attitude towards each other only hurt the hobby.

What's a corvette?

A small ship that used to escort convoys over the atlantic. When these were made surplus after WW2, GM bought some, turned them upside down, and called them "cars." :eusa_angel::eusa_angel::eusa_angel:

Which in its turn proves that Walt Disney was not the only american with imagination!

Whats the difference between a porcupine and a Corvette? A Porcupine has the pricks on the outside..................

Another thing to consider if you are changing out different carburetors is differences in the length of throw from closed to wide open throttle. If you are going with an aftermarket Carter or Edelbrock get the Mopar throttle lever adapter to get the correct distance from your pivot point. If it still doesn't match the throw length on your transmission lever, get a shorter or longer lever on the transmission to match it. If the lever on the transmission is too short you are limiting your throttle travel and if it is too long it is hard on your trans.

Throttle lever adapter # EDL-1481 ...$8.95 at Summit (800)230-3030

Yup, know about that, and I picked one up. THANKS for input.

btw- I saw a gentleman in what looked like a 10' or 11' corvette the other day
(hell, i can't tell the damn difference)....he had a big gold chain around his neck, and what looked like to be a really bad topee.
I've left instructions to have someone mercy euthanize me if I ever do something like that at his age.

Its a good thing that they didn't spell that word with a K. The swedish word for sausage is "korv." Therefore Corvette translated means "little sausage" which very aptly describes the owners!:laughing11:
