The last time I had a bumper re-chromed, it was something like $400.
I just spoke with the company that did mine in the past and was quoted $1350 for the front & rear bumpers for the 71 NYer. The price includes fixing any dents, and Illinois tax. That price seems pretty steep.
I'm hoping someone here has another recommendation they'd be willing to share.

Chrome plating has gotten a lot more expensive because of all the enviornmental restrictions placed on heavy metal. Most places are getting about $600 to do one C-Body bumper. A lot of plating companies stopped doing chrome because it was very expensive to update their waste recovery systems.

The place I went to in the past locally, still does smaller parts but larger parts are now sent to a plating company somewhere in MN. I didn't get the name of the company.
He said this company bought up most of the competition, because of the EPA regulations.

Currently I am paying about $600 to do bumper straightening (not very easy and few can do it well) and triple plate show chrome (but the last one I did was about a year ago now, so prices probably have gone up since then too). It would be hard to find anything much less expensive, but then I do live in California, so maybe other less environmentally conscious states might charge less. In this endeavor, I have found that you get what you pay for and even then you need to carefully check the feedback of the facility doing the work.

I called JV Polishing in Cali. They quoted $450 ea. Shipping would be around $250 each way. So I'm still in the $1400 range.

I dont have the information you need, but I have heard that there are some places that specialize in bumpers...mainly replating NEW factory defects or damaged and such...but they send them all to one or two central locations and costs alot less...like around $400 ea. maybe someone here can expand on this??

The facility I use does their own straightening, but they too send the bumper to a large production facility for the chrome plating as the only cost-effective way to do the plating any more - in any state.

The chrome shop here in San Jose was shut down recently. I'm bummed because they did top notch work and were very nice to deal with. Apparently the City was after them for years, it was a small family-owned shop.

Not sure if your region, but Northstar plating in Brainard, MN. was reasonably priced and did not charge me to return the finished product. They have two prep shops on site, one which does the prep and sanding of thousands of new aftermarket bumpers and a show chrome shop that de-chromes, patches, straightens, polish sands and copper plates the show bumpers. The mass quantities help cover the environmental equipment. If Recall correctly, mine were about $450 each shipped back to me.
I think they have an online price book.

They are a division of Keystone plating which has a few different places around the US.

$450 doesn't sound bad and the free shipping upon the return sounds even better. A must call in the morning.
I wonder if it's the same place in MN that the local company, Courtesy Metal Polishing sends the bumpers to.

I worked with Patrick Parchem from North Star.
    Sales Manager/ Inside sales
    Nice guy to work with.
I hand delivered my small pot metal parts and he gave me a great tour of their Facility. I am about 2-1/2 hours away.

Tim the costs to do a proper double dip in nickel and chrome that price is pretty close. Tri City Plating did mine for a little less in 2017. I took mine down and picked them up myself. The risk of loss or damage during shipping is also something to be considered.

Guys, I live in Manitoba and had to get mine shipped to Alberta for plating. Our market is small and am sure the environmental issues had something to do with forcing many locally to close that part of the business. My front and rear bumpers for my 68' 300 cost about $2,200 CDN. (Includes shipping). I maybe should have checked around, Minnesota is as closer than Alberta. Same service, dents and whatnot but would have jumped at even $1000/$1200 US to have them done by reputable company.

Sioux Plating in Sioux City Iowa. They do it all and the chrome is very good. Unless you have a $100-$200K+, it's a waste of money to do this So-Called "Show Chrome". If Triple plating is done properly and all parts are cleaned and polished between each metal it'll look as good as Show Chrome IMO. Anyway, all of it is much better than what came from the factory!

Is the Chrome Pit still in Wpg? He did some nice work for me at reasonable rates.
