This is to start a thread about what will hopefully be progress on a Fury that I just acquired. I've only had it a few days and have only taken pictures and washed half the hood. I think it is going to clean up pretty well, despite sitting in a barn in Idaho for many years and outside in Vancouver, WA for several more. I think I have all the trim pieces, but it has an aftermarket carburetor and I believe an incorrect air cleaner. I plan to pull up the carpet this weekend to see how bad the rust is. From pulling up the edges, it does not look too bad, but we'll see.

Very nice. I see it's a 383 N code and yes it's a 68/9 un-silenced air cleaner like used on B bodies. I don't know if they were used on C bodies or not or what years if they were. It will however work and sound great and will take a pie pan ID plate so run it for now w/o worry. Is the carb a carter or Holley

70 B bodies had Dual snorkel silenced air cleaners so I assume C bodies did also

Thanks, I really like the interior too. I'm not sure what carb it has. I'll look this weekend. I washed one of the door panels with a wet rag and it looks a lot better. This is my favorite part of getting a new old car.

Awesome Jeff! I too have a 70 fury vert. I also have many extra parts and am glad to help another one get fixed

Nice car! Looks like you have a lot options on that fender tag.

Thanks everyone. I'm sure I will be seeking parts, advice, and fender-tag decoding from all of you.

Welcome. Very nice colour combo on that car. I know someone with the same colour and year Polara convertible but it is a 318 car Nice score. Please keep us posted.

My first car was a green on green 1970 Barracuda, so I am really enjoying this green interior. Here are a few more pics of cleanup. I'm always amazed what extra-fine steel wool can do to crusty metal parts. I think a raccoon must have explored the interior in the not-too-distant past.

I've got a couple questions. First, I put a couple drops of motor oil on the door hinge pins as directed in the manual. Now it is making a bad noise when opening and closing. I was careful not to put oil on the roller. Any idea why adding oil would cause this and how to make it stop? Also, what are the go-to vendors for reproduction C-body parts, if any? I need a battery tray right away and will need a lot of things later, such as carpet. Thx.

Those parts look great, I don't know why they say not to oil the roller, the roller is probably making the noise

I pulled most of the carpet out this evening. That was a nasty job. The floor is in better shape than I expected, considering it was sitting out in Vancouver for several years. The passenger back looks the worst so far.

If you don't get that solved you will hurt your transmission. Throttle pressure is the load input for line pressure... it can't have shifted well without it either.

Someone seems to have just slapped this replacement Edelbrock on there, without regard to everything else hooked up to the original. I don't even know if it does shift. We only drove it onto and off a trailer. The electric choke is not hooked up and the choke valve is wired into the open position. Today I tried to start it for the first time since delivery and was unable to get it run. A vacuum port was also wide open.

Does the engine have to be running for the fuel gauge to work?
