While putting the top up tonight I noticed my drivers side cable has a couple broken wires.
So I'm on the hunt. Does anyone make good repops? Or is Murray Park my best shot?
I can't find the link right now but they are available for about $35 a pair...
The cables that convertible top guys show doesn't look anything like what's on the car. Perhaps it's just an erroneous picture. Mine has threads for adjustment, not springs.
Yes I did...Did you call them? Maybe it's just a stock pic and not the pic of the actual component.
I was able to repair the one that failed on my top
The intermediate cable is a mystery to me because it is not mentioned at all in the FSM to the best of my knowledge
But then again, I have a Canadian Polara
I found the cable and what it does on page 23-70 of my FSM. I see what the cable does but not sure of it's usefulness on a replacement top. The bow is tight and the zipper for the back window doesn't bind.
Maybe that's why Canadian cars don't have these cables.
About a half hour ago I removed the damaged cable. I'm going to try and drop some brazing on the frayed end to hold everything in place. It should adhere because everything is steel
I would agree that you are probably missing the Velcro tab that holds it in place, that’s what’s on mine. I believe the original may have had a stitched in tab. Do you have a pad running front to back on both sides. They are about 3 or 4 inches wide. The Velcro is attached to them. I will get pics tomorrow. With my top frame, I have to constantly check the front bow that it doesn't fall backwards when the top is up...
I am figuring that the velcro or other sticky fabric is missing from the top .
Do you have a picture of your front bow in the deployed position?
Please ignore the wrinkles
