Does anyone have any tips on how to refurbish this?
These are the only two flawed parts on an otherwise brand new looking car.
Of course if any one had a new pair still sitting in the box that would be OK too.

A pot metal casting, chromed, with an argent "surround" band, chrome "fins" in the middle, with satin black between the fins/serrations?

Mask off what you don't need to be touching! Then you might clean up the black areas. If you can find some pinstriping tape to cover the "fins"/serrations, then re-spray the black areas lightly, several coats. Unmask carefully.

MANY of these painted castings were seldom "show quality", so once you see the direction the spray came from, you can duplicate it. The black is more "flat" than "satin", and certainly NOT shiny. Finding the best satin black will be an adventure. Key thing is to make it "good", but not "too good", other than to get the chrome shiny.

eBay has a couple nice (expensive) pieces, but you probably know that already. These have been one of the toughest items to find for me personally. If you find a way to refresh them, let us know, please!

Since they're pot metal, if they're pitted, it's near impossible to restore them. The best one can do is to polish them up and repaint the blackout.

Try to find the best ones you can from the desert salvage yards. Try Desert Valley - they have a few 66 Polaras in their inventory right now.

A really good chrome shop that is good with pot metal, and a fist full of $$$.
