Doing the disc conversion on my 66 300 this winter and was assembling parts. down to the last couple. I cant seem to find a dual diaphragm booster (bendix style in photo). I have column shift.

I would love to get the booster and MC together but cant seem to find them (as a pair) in stock anywhere.

1- is a single diaphragm going to do the job. I am only doing front disc.
2- Anyone know a source outside of advanced, oriley, rock, napa, autozone to get something like this?

Yer pretty much gonna hafta find a Bendix Dual Booster core and have someone like Booster Dewey rebuild it for you. You can pick up a '68 dual reservoir disc brake master cylinder from Rock Auto.

I got one through RockAuto but it wasn't the same style as my original which wouldn't work for me, if the look isn't important this may be an option. I returned it and sent my original to Booster Dewey to be rebuilt.

Referencing the picture from my first post- is there any difference in outside appearance between the double and single for the Bendix style booster?

Yes. The regular drum booster looks like this:

The unit with the MC is labeled as a dual diaphragm (out of stock). the unit without is labeled as a single diaphragm. Wondering if they are just mislabeled and actually are the same thing.

Should there be an outside appearance difference between these two if in fact they are different when it comes to dual/single diaphragm?

Both of these boosters look like dual diaphragm units to me.

Last time I looked a coupla months ago, AutoZone, NAPA, O'Reilly, et al had no 66-68 disc brake dual-diaphragm boosters available. The MC you could still get, however just about anywhere.

I checked AutoZone's web site just now. Looks like a '68 disc brake booster is again available. Lifetime warranty too. Good luck.

Cost for a 68 300s booster is different than a 69 Polara model (which is what I stole from for my swap- Is there a difference?

You do not want to use a single diaphragm with disc brakes, they do not put out enough boost on hard stops when you really need it. Buy the dual one form the member above, it costs about $250 and up to rebuild the correct unit and most re-builders no longer have them in stock. FYI the Auto Zone boosters are usually Cardone units which have a high defect rate.

One more thing: Here is a link to a thread that exhaustively discusses the steps involved with the disc brake conversion for '65 to '68 Chrysler C-Bodies. It is kinda like a bible: 65 Fury disc brake conversion advice
