any information on how to remove door panel on a 1972 Fury. I can see clips around outside and screw for window winder, but cannot see anything to release the middle section where the door handle is.

Is it a case of when the clips around the edge are off, you lift the panel off?

Don’t want to force anything off

    Thanks in advance

The arm rest and inner door handle have to come off if you have not done that. After you release the perimeter clips and remove the arm rest and door handle give the door panel a good shove upwards.

Agreed with FURYGT & I want to add for you to make sure you do this on a warm day. Cold days result in broken out panels or plastic clips

Should be 2 large phillips #3 heads on the underside of the handle itself.
(And one for the handle itself)

    Step 1 – Remove the window crank(s)
    upload_2019-2-12_8-15-31.png

Step 2 - Remove the screw in the front of the inside door handle. Pulling the handle out makes it easier to remove the screw but when you remove it, the door latch will spring back so be careful. You can also remove the remote control but that’s not necessary.

    upload_2019-2-12_8-15-58.png

Step 3 - Remove the arm rest pads. The screws are at an upward angle and have a very large Philips head screw heads.

Notice the screw holes at the bottom of the pads, this is where the screws are inserted.

The chrome trim plates will come off when you take these two large screws out. Again, notice the angle that the screws will be inserted into the door frame.

Step 4 - Remove the door lock pull.

Step 5 - Take out any screws that are holding the door panel to the door frame. There is usually at least one or more in the corners.

Step 6 - After all screws are removed, use a putty knife or trim tool to pop the retaining clips that hold the door panel in place.

Step 7 - Pull out the bottom far enough that the panel clears the door handle mechanism and window crank studs and push up enough clear the door lock stud and weather strip on the top of the door panel that’s against the window clears the door frame.

I noticed that the trim plates for the door handle are chrome painted plastic. Some of the paint has worn off. Is it just a case of rubbing down and painting with chrome paint? Anyone refurbished these?

Seat Backs Hinge Covers | ABC Moparts also is reproducing these and many other interior parts that are top quality but they may be pricey for a driver but that's subjective. Comparatively his prices are pretty good and he's a good guy to deal with.

I have his front (13 inch) armrests. A bargain at any price. I got my chrome bases from somebody else....many vendors carry them.

Sometimes you can just flip them from one side of the car to the other. That flips them and exposes better surface.

You can also buy new ones from Vans or someplace like that.

    Chrome paint isn't.

Is it possible to remove exterior door handles without removing the glass?

If i hav to remove glass, is it just the two screws holding it to the mechanism?

    Thanks

Yes. It just takes a little patience.

Don't take out the glass. You will regret it when you start putting it back together and getting the adjustment right.

If you roll the window up with the door panel off, you should have enough access through this large hole to access the nuts connectors for the door handle.
