Howdy. Going to install electronic ignition in my 68 fury. Looking for ideas (pics) on where to put the ignition box. Thanks

A Pertronix system is all under the distributor cap and looks stock.

I used pertronix, all the components are in the distributor. For the mods around the ballast resistor, I did those in the harness and then rewrapped the harness. Going to the distributor there will now be two wires in place on the single, so i included the both in a single piece of shrink tubing to give the appearance of still being a single wire.

While some folks love the Pertronix set up and I used one many years ago, the downside is if you have problem getting a part whereas with the MOPAR style ignition set up you can get a replacement ignition module anywhere.

I have mine mounted under the battery tray but that requires adding additional wiring. Someone makes a slotted bracket so that you can mount the module on the back of the engine but I am not seeing them on eBay, which is where I have seen them.

You want to mount the module away from heat. On the '72-'73 C Body's they were mounted up high on the passenger side firewall on a bracket. Wherever you mount the module use either a bracket or some type of spacer so that air can circulate around the module to keep it from getting to hot.

If you have not purchased anything, I sell marine rated ignition modules on eBay that work great and are high quality. Rick Ehrenberg sells a kit on eBay that has gotten many positive reviews.

Make sure that you use a heavy duty ballast resister and a solid state electronic voltage regulator (which I also sell on eBay) to ensure that you don't have any problems. Also, I like to use the Accel brand cap and rotors as they are high quality and the correct tan color.

BTW, I own two '68 Furys.

And don't forget to make sure the ECU has a good ground or you will be wondering why it shut down 5 miles from home.

I have a 66 Sport Fury with a 66 383 from a Dodge truck. Ignition was upgraded to electronic by previous owner. I have problems with it stalling at stops and turns and bad missing.. I know I need new plug wires, but I have a new regulator that is two wire. I don't know if it has a ballast resistor or not. Do I need a ballast resistor and a one wire regulator and would these be tha cause of the stalling and missing. Does the ballast resistor look like the one on the 70's Mopars? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Mopar electronic should run a ballast resistor value depends on which ECU it is. Stops and turns sounds like a fuel issue to me doubt ignition would do that unless something is loose. Define one wire regulator or do you mean a ballast resistor?

Distributor is a GM style HEI unit, I have two wires running off the regulator, one on each side. I've been told the GM style units don't have an external ballast resistor and I need an electronic regulator with the HEI didtributor.

gm UNITS DO NOT USE A BALAST. Have a picture of your voltage regulator?

Here is the regulator

I mounted my ECU on the left inner fender.
I ran extra wire to the distributor.
Easy access, and close to the ballast resistor, and keeps right inner fender tidy.
Very common to mount the ECU on right inner fender.

What other regulator is there? Is there one in the distributor?
No regulator in the distributor, a ignition module in the GM distributor. Mopar electronic distributor uses the firewall mounted module and a ballast resistor to cut down the voltage to the coil.

The electronic regulator reference may be for the alternator, your regulator looks like a mechanical regulator. The electronic regulator may be suggested because it may provide more even voltage than the mechanical regulator.
The GM distributor wants a full 12v
