Hi all, I'm converting my GM style HEI dizzy on my 383 to Chrysler electronic. Do I need a coil with the Chrysler dizzy? I have the silver box, wiring harness, and dizzy. I know I'll need the ballast resistor but just wondering if I need a coil also. If so which would be best? Thanks guys

Yes you need a 12 volt coil.
Any parts jobber generic canister coil will work.
Or go with an Accell Super Coil or MSD3 Blaster for more power!! Lol!

According to Rick Ehrenberg, former editor of Mopar Action, the ignition coil must have primary resistance over 1.4 ohms. That's in the directions for his Chrysler ECU, which at least one source told me is the only quality new ECU on the market. I used Accel 8140 coil and it was 1.8 ohms so I was okay.

Do not get a 12 volt coil of 3 ohms if it uses a ballast resistor.
