Did the 68's with the HP 383's have the pie pan on the air cleaner or was it just bare?

I believe a 68 Monaco would have been bare.

I would say that I want the things that are visable to be as right as possible. I know that the hub caps are wrong but until a set shows up at a reasonable price I will use what I have. He had a battery disconnect installed but I found that the ignition switch was bad so with that being said the disconnect will be removed.

You going for authenticity like with hoses, clamps, stuff like that?

Maybe the clamps..when the engine was detailed they didn't re-install the wire looms for the plug wires so I will probably install all of them.

That's a very good reference. Somehow, the be all, end all, reference diagrams always omit one item or two items I
know that I have seen.
It's frustrating.

I believe that was a Roadrunner thing.

I wouldn't be sure that it didn't have something on it...

I had a '70 New Yorker with a "CHRYSLER TNT 440" pie tin, and had a '67-'68 style dual snorkel air cleaner with an "IMPERIAL" pie tin, and this is an original '68 300....

A 70 TNT engine would have been orange and the proper air cleaner would have looked different. The one your car had was not original equipment. He is asking about original equipment...in which case there would have been no pie tin.

My '70 New Yorker had the U code 440, it was orange, had the tall ribbed exhaust manifolds and had the flatter aircleaner with the rectangle snorkles...

The other '67-'68 dual snorkel air cleaner, with the Imperial pie tin, had oval snorkels just like the original '68 300 L code 440 pictured... I would wager that the pie tin is original to this '68 300...
