i sealed up the mufflers.
and the trunk.
i have down spouts,
could the exhaust fumes be getting sucked back in cabin?
should i put the r/t tips and extend them past bumper?
if so how far?

Is the rest of the exhaust system intact and not leaking? Do you notice the smell in traffic or while driving on the road? Windows down or up? Where do the tailpipes exit now? What vehicle?

Driving into the wind or with the wind? Tail pipe ends look about in the correct place, but possibly a bit low and maybe an inch short, not aimed down quite enough? What about with the cowl vents open?

Deck lid weatherstrip?

the cowl vents more the air around. but i'm 100 percent sure.
weather strip slightly cracked.

Thje cowl vents will pressurize the passenger compartment, moving fresher air PAST the front seat passengers, by observation. Windows closed or open.

Is the car running rich, which can increase what is smelled?

Check to be sure all of the rubber body plugs are installed in the floors and the rear quarters. I had the same problem with mine and it turned out to be missing plugs and a small exhaust leak from the manifold flange.

Pipes can be tricky to seal at bottom of exhaust manifold. Sandpaper to eliminate rough spots sometimes helps.
Love your 70 Fury convertible (for obvious reasons)
