Hi All,
I'm a new C body owner but I also have an A body Barracuda and I need some help with the fender tag please. I've spent hours on the internet looking for a decoder that somewhat looks like what I have, but I couldn't find anything. If anyone can point me to the right info, I'd be grateful. BTW the car is a 1965 Chrysler New Yorker 4d sedan.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

Welcome bob d.
That tag is not from a 1965 at all.

it looks like a 17 Digit VIN and that started in 1980
The 10th digit is The year, that has H Which is 1987
The first digit is 1 so it was made in USA

I just put that 17 digit VIN in a search tool and got a hit for 1987 Plymouth Horizon. No way the inner fender on the Horizon could be mistaken for he New Yorker...I wonder why someone would go through that Trouble...

I pulled the back seat, but unfortunately did not find a broadcast sheet. Anyone got any ideas where else I might look?
Thanks, Bob

I found a broadcast sheet in the seatback of one of my front buckets but I can't recall now if was the driver's side or the passenger's side. That is also a place to check but I know your car probably doesn't have bucket seats. However, if it does, that is another place to check.

Thanks for that, I don’t have buckets but I’ll be sure to check the seat.

For the VIN on your 1987 Horizon :

1 - Manufactured in - United States of America
2 - Make/Car Line - Plymouth
3 - Type of Vehicle - Passenger Car
B - Seat Restraints - Manual Seat Belts
M - Car Line / Body - M-body (Horizon / Turismo / Omni / Charger
1 - Series - Ecnomy
8 - Body Style - 4dr Hatchback
C - Engine - 2.2-litre four cylinder
6 - VIN Verification - 1 through 9, 0 or X)
H - Model Year - 1987
D - Assembly Plant - Belvidere, IL
334412 - 334,412th car built at the Belvidere, IL, assembly plant

Well, that's for your car's VIN. Will have to do some digging the rest of the tag, which tells you what equipment the car has. Will let you know what I find.

Hi Bill,
Please don’t waste your time on this. The tag was on my 65 New Yorker and I don’t have a Plymouth Horizon. I cannot imagine why someone would go through the trouble to affix that tag to that car, but they did. So, in any case I’m left hoping to find the broadcast sheet to get the correct information.
Thanks for your willingness to help!!!
Bob
