Well I'm at a crossroads with the A/C condenser in my 1978 NY'er. The condenser cracked so I'm on the fence on whether to go with a NOS condenser or go with a conversion like Stan's......

I've searched for a NOS condenser part number 3846172....of course I can't find one anywhere.

I did find a "direct fit" aftermarket condenser that I'm inquiring about. It has to be an "exact fit" or I'm going with a Stan conversion. Has anyone used this condenser from the www.ascondenserstore.com ?

Stan.......I can't find that condenser / pusher fan thread of yours???

I bought 2 condensers from ebay vendors over the years and they were exactly like the originals. I can't remember who made them.

I bought the condenser from the accondenserstore.com. They told me it's a factory OEM repop and it'll bolt right in. It coming from California so I should see it in about 10 days.

I'll let you know...

They are saying same mounting locations, same line connections, same frame dimensions. We'll see. I told them if it wasn't an exact match it'll be coming right back to them.

If this condenser isn't an OEM match I'll definitely be doing the modern conversion.

Ah. I get it. I want it quick and easy and be done with.

Absolutely.......I've repaired or replaced everything except the evaporator and the compressor.

I was getting 42 degrees at the vent when the condenser failed........

Yep, that's another good reason I want to stay with an OEM style condenser.

But if I have to mod anything.....I might as well go with a modern condenser and push fans.

If had 42 degrees, you're not going to get much, if any, improvement with upgrades I would think. You'll be fine.

My next A/C "upgrade":

I just got a quote for that tint. $450 for all windows except the windshield.

Should be good protection for UV sensitive interior parts as well.
