This was the worse piece. Chrome guys advised against it. Part was too far gone they thought. But did say it would look better, but couldn't guarantee I would be happy. Picked part up today....I was happy! Chromers were impressed too! lol

Not like we can just go on ebay and order up this trim piece. Paid 100 bucks, but really didn't have a choice. This was an eye sore on the rear of the car.

Taking mirrors, and maybe a little trim around vent windows that is pitted, to get chromed. Rest of chrome isn't pitted thankfully.

Sweet, thanks! I've been looking for a new chrome shop. Do you know if they do the plating on premises?

I believe so. I worked with a young guy/kid....Esteban. He showed me part of the shop. They were grinding and prepping some bumpers. This place is packed with projects...from very small trim pieces to bumpers. Not many places around that can do small orders anymore. I got the impression they did it all in-house. All sorts of Chevy lowrider parts. When I dropped of my little piece 2 weeks ago, couple guys were dropping off what looked like to be all the chrome from some old lowriders, and again today, more people picking up and dropping off. I'm happy with their work, and fairly close to Whittier.

Wow! It takes six months minimum for the chrome up here, but I'm also talking bumpers. Still, that seems very timely.

I would have thought that piece had no future but the scrap heap! Amazing results and only for $100??? Near Whittier sounds great too. I will try them out. Thanks for the tip!

Dropped off a few more pieces. For reference...$470 for these pieces. Front bumper would be 450, rear 400. I'm a 'repeat' customer, so they will work with me on price if I decide to rechrome bumpers. Those prices include any repairs/straightening etc. Not sure I'm going to get bumpers redone. Don't really need it.

For those who don't know and wondering why the OP is re-chroming the door handles....
Well,69-72 Chrysler door handles are not like the repop ones for A/B cars, trucks and vans.
They mount on the door at an angle.
To the naked eye they may look like the repop handles but they are not.

Yep, I knew there was a difference, but not sure what it was. Plus...when I grab that handle....I know its OEM!

That is truly a great total price for rechroming all those difficult parts. I have paid a lot more for worse work than they turn out and sometimes a lot of those parts wouldn't be touched by most replaters.

Price break down I think was 180 for the 2 vent wing frame things, 65 for each piece of mirror and 65 each handle, (65x4), and 15 each door button....470 total. 2, maybe 3 weeks max.

I asked my guy if they do plating onsite there. They own two places, where I drop off is where they do all the grinding, polishing, prep work, then they have another place about 5 minutes away where they do the actual plating. Same family, just two locations....license issues in the city.

Just got home from chrome shop. I just hope I can figure out how to put it all back together. Easy part is taking it all apart! I took lots of pics so hopefully be ok. I think window tracks and vent windows will be toughest part.

I had to separate these 2 pieces for the chromer. I need to bond them back together. They were originally 'riveted' together but had to grind the connecting points down to separate. These are the vent wing frames. Some type of epoxy? Which one? I won't be separating ever again so not too worried if epoxied. Thanks!

My suggestion would be to go to a body shop. They have two part epoxy's they use for bonding new panels onto cars.

    Professional grade stuff.

Very expensive, about $70 a tube so it wouldn't be cost effective to buy it and the dual ram applicator tool. I'm sure they could help you out.

Great job on the re-chrome btw!

Thanks about the auto body shop idea. I have a message out to a friend who has a shop.
