Going to look at 3.23s

Found a set of 3.23s for a 741 case and I am going to look at them today. Comes with a rebuild kit for 250. Pictures of the gears look good, what do you think of the price? Since this is the first set I have found in over 2 years for my case, I figure its a must.

Kit is worth almost a hundred if I recall. Are you getting the case they came out of also if so that makes easier reassembly and I would call it worth it $200 would always be better

That's good pinion depth should be basically set from shims behind big bearing, if it were me I would leave pinion bearings alone (as long as they are not pitted or blued) and just put the new seal at yoke and then set up the carrier adjust the back lash and check pattern.

One other thing is look around hole in the carrier for cracks where pin goes through holding the spider gears. The pin will wear the carrier housing hard and possible cracks with a lot of one wheel peels when it hooking up as it grabs, ice and snow can cause this also.

Went and got the 3.23s with the rebuild kit. He already had the new bearing pressed onto the pinion. They look good. I have a project now. This is what he had sitting in his garage.

Here we go, pulled the axles and the 741 carrier. I will start tearing it apart tomorrow and hopefully it all goes smooth.
