Took a drive from western MA to central CT the other day to meet and pick up some parts I bought from FURYGT. He has quite the garage full of gorgeous Mopars. Six that I saw.
His cars are really stunning and immaculately clean and nicely put together. I went down to get a pair of HP exhaust manifolds for my 440 stroker build . Bill had said to come down and he would give me a ride in his 68 Fury which I believe is stroked that he races. He runs HP exhaust manifolds. So after the tour of his garage he started the Fury up and yelled "get in!"
Here is the car. Poor pic but all I have. Really nice car.

The engine sounded great and started right up. We get out on the road to warm it up a bit and then he let her rip! The car pulls hard with a nice wide power band as it seemed to pull just as hard in the upper rpms as the lower.. I was really impressed how composed the car was also,with no weird suspension antics and went right where he pointed it.
It was an eye and ear opening experience for me . If my stroker build can approach what Bill's 68 Fury does I will be very happy. The big take away for me was the proof that big power can be made with HP cast iron exhaust manifolds and I will go that route with much more confidence.

Yes and andyf proved it on moparts and in printed magazine that you can make power with them. He also proved there's a lot more on the table
 
AndyF spills all the beans over on FABO, and as stated, in magazines as well. He's the reason I'll be buying the TrickFlow 270 heads for a build I plan to do. He's one of the super cool good guys.

He has made some big power with the 240 and 270. I was going to go with Victor's following the build a guy I workwith did ( about 15 years ago), but after hearing his comments about how much work they need( my friend had $$ in those heads), and IQ52 (hey old guy on here) backed that up. I'm going with the Trick flows also. Easiest path from A to B is to follow the precut path someone else did.

Turboomni, It was great to meet you. I wish I had more time to spend. As mentioned, next time you come down I'll give you a ride in the Flying Whale and you will be even more impressed.

For those who haven't read about my yellow '68 Sport Fury (I also have a green '68 Sport Fury that is an unrestored survivor) it was built as a street/strip car that meets the regulations to run in stock appearing, stock tire drag racing series. As a result it is a pump gas 520" stroker built by the late Nick Wilson at Compu-Flow in Ohio. Nick's son is still supply high quality stroker kits and may still be building engines.

Pump gas engine with just under a 10:1 compression ratio, cast iron heads with Nick's stage II porting, factory cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds, TTI 2.5" exhaust. 3.73 sure-grip rear gear, custom made driveshaft loop, Edelbrock 800 CFM non-choke carb, Carter high volume fuel pump with a Holley Blue Electric Fuel Pump that acts as a "pusher" to an adjustable fuel regulator. My best quarter mile ET is a 13.45 with major traction issues running on G70/15 bias ply red line tires. The car has the potential to run in the low 12's if I can get it to hook up and can improve my driving skills. One key component - a Rev-N-ator ignition module that has a settable rev limiter. Well worth the money.

Looking forward to meeting Turboomni again.
 
@Turboomni. Bill's Flyin' Whale is even louder and faster than his 68 Sport Fury. That car is literally a ground shaker and will give you a heart attack. He said he got it up to 90 on the highway once, and is capable of more than that. Believe that it has 3 inch exhaust.

Hey Bill you know the best way to get your cars to hook up is to add some weight, I think Turboomni, Mark, and myself should stop by and take both cars out.

That time was with some extra weight in the trunk and my fat but in the driver's seat before I lost about 50lbs.

FYI, my yard is looking good an I may be renting a tractor with a loader this weekend to pull out your "partial car".

Rides, weather permitting, will be included when you and Mark head down. I might even let Mark drive one.
 
Thanks Bill, I'm just messing with ya. For those who don't know FURYGT he's a C body guru, very knowledgeable and generous. I've enjoyed meeting him and TURBOOMNI. I'm hoping to see both of you at Artioli Dodge later this season. Bill, E mail Mark with some dates, I warned my wife that there will be a new addition in our driveway. See you soon.

If you speak of the Chrysler 300 yes he started it up for me. The earth shook,all wild life took off in fear, the sun dimmed. It was not loud per say[not noisy] but sounded HUGE in a very satisfying high cholesterol ,meat and potatoes+gravy kind of way. It was a treat to hear.

Does the 3" exhaust go over the rear axle with bends?
 
I'm gonna have to get out there before Bill splits the state. I met him once at his work to pick up a part but I was driving "DARTH CHUCK" (my truck).
Still think we gotta build up the E.C. C Body club..
