Hello! 1963 Dodge 880 police

Hello!

I was called to tow a 63 Dodge 880 hiding in a storage unit. I spoke with the owner and made a deal to buy it. She’s owned it since 1971 and says it came from a “CHP” auction. I got it home and ive been digging in to it one thing at a time. First item is getting the radiator resealed and restored.

Ive decoded the serial number but I’m still looking for clues of its CHP heritage.

It has these CHP items:
An ivory steering wheel
Certified speedo
Manual steering
#3 in the serial for police production
And some white lettering on the fender

Anything else to look for? The spots and other mounting holes are long gone.

Previous owner called him “cooker” and had a holley efi setup added. So thats a cool bonus since this will be my wife’s car show car along side my 1936 Chevy Hotrod pickup.

CHP had their unit numbers on the front of the hood and the deck lid, but those would be gone in a repaint. Any evidence of dual spots in the past? There would also be a couple of holes in the front bumper for the CHP push guards, but looks like maybe they rechromed the bumper? Everything else you mentioned lines up with CHP. I have a fender tag of a documented 63 CHP car and it looks like that tag matches yours except for one or two options, its kinda hard to read though. Nice find, most people used up old Copcars. Any documentation in the glove box? If you get the IBM build card from Chrysler Historical it will tell you the original selling dealer.
