Hello to everybody,
at first sorry for my bad english.
I want to re-new the vinyl on the c-pillar of my 68 Newyorker.
can someone tell me, how to remove all that trim ?
Are there pictures of that work somewhere in the internet ? (i didnt find anything)
Next question, is there a possibility to download a shop manual for this year ?
I found everything, Plymouth, Dodge etc, but not for 68 chrysler.
Here is a picture, hope it works
Greetings from germany
Gerd

Hi, I have the same car and removed all trims before i repainted the car las year.
So start by removing the roof rail rubbers (the rubber that the side glass seals against when up, this should just pull out of the channel it sits in) once removed this will expose the screws that holds the trim that the rubber sat in.
Once you remove this trim piece (rather long) it exposes more screws to the top molding that runs up the A pillar and along to the roof line to the back glass, this trim is 2 piece with a join above the 1/4 vent on front door.
this trim is also held in place above the vinyl roof panel by clips and it will pop off easy enough.
The last trim that runs down the front of the C pillar will just unscrew, the chrome trim on bottom of C pillar is removed by removing interior C pillar trims and remove the interior sail panel.
Once sail panel is removed you can get to the 3 hex head nuts that hold this chrome piece in place.
The trim around the back window is always tricky, and requires patience and plastic trim remover tools.
The rear glass has to come out, as the vinyl sail panel sits in under the rubber, and there is a metal strip at top of the sail panel to help hold in place with 3 or 4 screws.
It is a time consuming task but new sail panel vinyl really sets the car off, i got my correct grail vinly from SMS, they do have it it stock if your looking for it.
I have attached some pictures of my car and when i done the job.
If unsure just ask me, i love your car, the pale yellow really suits it.

Hello gavin,
thank you very much for explaining and also for the pictures.
Helps me a lot !!
Thanks

thanks also for taht great link for parts

@Gavin Jeffrey Your NYer has the lower stainless trim that goes on the doors and on the rocker panels. Would you happen to have any pictures of the clips used to hold this in place. I've collected most of the stainless trim, but I'm unclear about what the clips are that hold it in place.

Over twenty years ago I removed it all from my first NYer when it was painted, but I don't recall what those clips looked like.

My first one was the color of yours and honestly that's part of the reason I bought. I really like that color.
