Has anyone ever seen hood scoops like this for our CBody?
No, and why would I.
Yes unfortunately,,,looked hideious ,,,,,,
Yeahthe hemi scoop really wont look good on any
I have yet to see ANY scoop look good on a c body......just my observation
Even rear spoilers look good!!!
Direct Connection Race Manual stated that for any hood scoop to really work, it needs to be 30 sq inches of opening. Otherwise, any benefit might be from cooler outside air vs. underhood air. The other issue is "ram air" vs "boundary layer air". Next time you wax the car, put some water on the hood and watch how and where the water drops sheet off to as the car speed increased.
In that orientation of "size", many factory scoops were more for image than performance, aside from the intake air temperature decrease.
Oldsmobile probably had the best shot with their under-the-front bumper cold air inlets. Until the "air catcher" front lights on the current Challenger models. Don't forget about the water baffles/drains!
Too each his own!! Its your car and our hobby...we shouldn't judge!!
I like this personally;
This hood should have come from the factory.
That's not bad!!
The 64 plymouths are one of my favorites!!!
Most of the examples shown above aren't C-bodies. Huge difference when talking about if a hood scoop is appropriate or not. Which it isn't and never will be.
Well I'm in the process of doing the 496 stroker kit so it'll be beneficial for that. I guess I could always find scoop and try fitting it on mine
Like tbis look
That's been narrowed, and looks worse than a stock width Hemi scoop would, IMO.
If yoyre headed that direction, what about a RO23 or WO23 '67 factory superstock scoop? Lower profile, but will meet your fresh air needs. Just a thought.
...in your opinion.
thats mine, will introduce myself at the weekend. I am the guy next to the car without black paint in the face
cheers from germany
