Hey everybody,

After getting "The Great Pumpkin" our FK3 Burnt Orange 1970 Fury III 4-door hardtop, I was just wondering how many cars exactly like this one in this color combo were built and especially how many are still around? I hear it is a pretty rare color for the year so I assume that NOT many were built. If anybody knows or knows someone who does, or heck maybe even has one too please let me know. I'm very interested.

I only know of this one.....

You might have the one-of-one. 1970 was the year for wacky color combinations from all of the automakers. My 1970 Challenger 340 4-speed car was FK5 with the bronze interior, but it had a black vinyl top. I can see this combo more prevalent among the A-, B-, and E-body cars built. A "C" like yours? Maybe!

Hey everybody,

Exterior and interior combinations were not tracked by the factory so it's impossible to know either the answer to either question. Plus you'd have to know the existence of and the condition of every other car in the world.

And, the concept is interesting but irrelevent.

Given the number of possible options, most cars are a 1 of 1 making the concept of having a unique car, frankly, no big deal. It's far harder to find two cars exactly alike than it is a car unlike other known cars.

Any answer beyond that is guessing and that's not helpful either.

There is that^^^as well. The rental car, government and cop fleets is where you're going to find two or twenty identical vehicles, or even two hundred. Even among my '66 Imperial convertibles built in 1966 (514), there were not a lot of options, all things said. Other than colors, there were only about 14 options as such, available on the Imperial convertible - Auto-Pilot, auto-dimming headlights, AM/FM, power passenger seat, passenger-side mirror, and remote trunk release among them. I've seen four that are the very same in colors and appearance, but they all have a different combination of options.

I love this color! I have a number of C body clips from Kojak programmes that I recorded many years ago that I look at occasionly.
There is one programme where a 4 door hardtop pumpkin Fury with black vinyl roof features quite a lot. A good lookin car.

For some reason, maybe lighting, that doesn’t look like burnt orange to me though. Has it been painted?

That car in this thread is FK3 Burnt Orange.

The color the masses call burnt orange is actually called Deep Burnt Orange and it’s code is FK5. See below.

The were a number of FK3 and FK5 SFGTs built, one of the more popular colors for those cars although with only 666 of them produced, the relative numbers are still very small.

I REALLY love that color, even though Ginger’s not FK, she’s a similar PK6 copper Bronze Metallic. Showing my support for the color.

Agreed. It's a Plymouth only color.

I assume you mean for C bodies, but this chart shows FK3 as Dodge only, FK5 for both Dodge and Plymouth.

I know you are the expert on Dodge C body burnt orange so maybe I misunderstood.
