Hello,

I'm scratching my head on how to remove the rear bumper on my '70 Sport Fury.
I looked in the Service Manual, but they do not explain it.

At first, I thought it was going to be like on my '58 : remove bumper bolts, and voila.
But they are not accessible from behind. At least not all of them (I counted 3 on each side).

So I thought OK, to access those bolts, I just need to remove the lower valance first.
But there's 3 screws on each side attaching the valance to the bumper, and they're not accessible either.

The last option would be to detach the whole assembly at the frame rail.
Is that it ?

Yes. IIRC, the bumper brackets attach to the rear of the body/frame with two bolts per side. Once the assembly is off, then you can remove the bumper from the brackets.

As I recall, there are 2 bolts, one each side that you access from inside the trunk that are in the rear body panel to truck floor support braces and as Big John said, then unbolt the brackets from the frame.

Thanks, the job is done.
There was another pair of bolts inside the trunk, near the opening lid.
So that makes a total of 2 bolts per side on the frame rail, and 2 bolts per side on the inside of the trunk.
