I've been wanting to dive into this since I picked her up and to satisfy my curiosity of whether the stub was trashed or in good shape. Surprisingly, it's in pretty good shape after scraping buckets of what looks like ziebart tar. Worst soint in the frame was the outer mounts, but I slicked those up. As far as the under body of the car I've been scraping piles of the tar off and haven't uncovered any huge surprises. I'd say she's in pretty good shape for going on 51 and sitting for years. I've been chipping away since February an hour here and there after work or on a day off. Considering pulling the trigger on a firm feel suspension rebuild kit and was also able to score a set of nos isolators for the rear of the frame, still on the hunt for the 4 for the front. Even found a near perfect build sheet under the driver's carpet, that's the 3rd one so far.

Front half of the underside is finished coated with KBS rust seal and topped with their blacktop top coat. I'm pretty happy with the results this stuff seems to be very tough. I'm saving the back half of the car for another time, the front was a big enough pain in the ***.

I set the frame out in the sun to bake and soften up what's left of the goop on it so I can blast it off and found some rot under the plastic splash shield. For 51 years old I can't complain, shouldn't be too hard to patch up.

What you all don't see in these photos is Meltshop Mikey's arms , forearms, and physique.... Mike is --- Stronger --- than a " C " Body's Frame and Front End !!!

Good work so far, Mike.... Keep it going when you can and are motivated....

Craig.....

Not too bad for my first actual attempt at a body patch. Little low, but some fiberglass and mud will take care of that. Surprised I hardly had any burn though with the flux core.
