Hello fellow moparians, i know someone can give me a answer on this question.
I have a 383 4bbl engine that runs great, but when i have driven longer trips it wont fire up until its cooled down. My first thought was the ignition coil, it says on it: for use without resistor on it. And it is plugged in to the resistor. Before i order the right coil i would like to hear what you guys think about this. Maybe a short lecture why there is different coils.

Sorry for my bad swenglish, Yours Joel

When it wont start you need to see if you have spark and fuel. What year mopar?

Assumkng there is anything wrong with the coil, check the coil using a ohmmeter. Compare to specs. Try testing it after the car has run to see if it has gone far out of spec.

If you have a coil that says "for use without ballast resistor" you are likely getting a weaker spark which will cause issues when the engine is warmer. You also may have a carb that is allowing fuel to leak down into the intake when it is sitting and hot. This is the same issue I am having with my fury right now. Just haven't fixed the problem yet.
