Previous owner bypassed the key. The fact this thing hasn't burned to the ground is amazing. Anyone have a wiring diagram for 70 383? Any pictures would be helpful too

Yup...FSM with wiring diagrams,a multimeter, lots of patience and beer.
In this case, what I had done the past is a total gut and start from scratch.
If the harness is beyond repair score a good used harness, perform continuity tests on all circuits, repair whatever needs repairing and re-install in the car.
I also unwrap the harness check for damage and re-wrap it so it looks clean and no spagetti mess hanging at your feet.

Now is the time to bypass the bulkhead for the main red and black wires that feed the whole system AND do an ammeter bypass/shunt under the hood.
With the dash already out install an electronic 5 volt limiter for the gauges-worth the extra cost and no headaches down the road (literally)
I solder and shrink tube any broken wires but never the main feeds.I replace the wires stem to stern
Pull out and Clean up each and every spade in the bulkhead connector.
Labor intensive but never have to do it again.
Clean each and every ground in the dash and under the hood.
Best of luck and any ?? PM me.. I love and hate electrical in our beloved Mopars,LOL!!

Here's a suggestion since you've got a lot to deal with.

I print out the FSM wiring diagrams and get out the colored highlighters and trace the circuit(s) I want to troubleshoot. Makes it a lot easier to see the circuit. That is one of the great things about a digital copy.

I should also mention it's a power windows wagon. So tons of extra wiring

The power windows feed and harness is typically separate from the main harness. When new they add the P.window harness as per build sheet.

Both wiring diagrams are good ideas. The good about the colored pencil trace is that you can tackle one circuit at a time and learn what is feeding what as you are tracing.

The pre made color circuit is a little more durable and great for fast troubleshooting and tracing.

:wideyed: i would suggest trying to find a good replacement dash harness at the least. i'd bet the bulkhead is melted .

I have kept all the wiring harnesses from my parts vehicles over the years....little pieces of wire with the correct colours and correct connections are invaluable when repairing old OEM harnesses.
