I've been traveling the past couple of weeks to visit my friend Sandy in the small town of Metamora ILL. a quant little place about 15 miles east of Peoria and surrounded by corn and bean fields. Her neighbor is a Mopar guy and owns an original 1971 340 4 speed Cuda he bought in 1972. He told me about the "once a month" cruise in in town on Sunday so I road over there with him. I was amazed at the turn out of rare, original and restored cars that turned out. Around 300 cars and heavy on Mopars.

What we arrived in.......

This car totally blew me away. All original 1968 Hemi 4 speed convertible with an older (poor) repaint. You just don't see cars like this, even at Carlisle let alone a small town cruise in.
36 were shipped, 12 were 4 speeds.

I almost forgot this little gem.
a 1961 Studebaker Lark convertible, one of two with a never produced rumble seat conversion. It was a feasibility exersize done in Chicago. It was a barn find with full documentation and photos of the restoration.

Ha! I think that car belonged to a good friend of mine. I thought it went to Canada, but it could have slipped back across the border.

When he got the car, it had a white "pearl" paint job with a zillion coats of clear lacquer. The clear had cracked badly over the years and he stripped the car and primed the bare metal. He then handed it to a local shop that did that crappy paint job... He was so disheartened about it and someone offered him enough money that he sold it.

Got love the '68 Merc with the woodgrain, don't see those often.... pretty nice for a small town cruise-in. THANKS for putting these up.

Yes that is one nice showing! They even appreciate IH's which are gaining popularity! Here is my 57 Golden Jubilee. It was their 50th anniversary special luxury model. First fleet side box with 56 Chevy like tail lights!

Will, great to hear from you. The cars you posted were beyond amazing. You rekindled my obsession with 4 spd GM B-bodies. Thank for posting them. Will PM a funny story to you later.

Three International trucks at one show, that's the biggest turnout I would have ever seen.
