Hi all,
I've been a member a couple of years now but haven't posted. I have gotten a lot of good information though. Thanks to all. I've had my Monaco a couple of years now. I saved it from a guy who was starting to rat rod it. At least he hadn't cut anything up before I got it. It is now my daily driver with future plans for nice paint. It was also supposed to be my final project, but my wife had other ideas. In November we bought her a Chrysler 300. It looks nice and after replacing the whole brake system drives well. The plan for it is to just keep it on the road. It has only been driven about 4,000 miles since 1996 so as we drive it things fail. I've already replaced the fuel pump and fuel tank along with all hoses, belts, and a tune up.

Two nice cars. Both look like great complete (all the trim is there) cars.
Look forward to more pic.

The wheels on the Monaco are:
Vision 148 Shift 15x8 5x4.5" +0mm Gunmetal/Machined Wheel Rim 15" Inch
and these tires
235/70R15 Hankook Kinergy ST H735 103T Tire
I ordered them from KJ Quinn, Sales Associate, Custom Wheel Outlet
(320) 818-0514, [email protected]

I found them on ebay and sent an enquiry to them from their vendor page. I concluded the transaction directly with them through email. I got great service, a good price, quick delivery, and they included 20 chrome right-hand lug nuts.

One note, the grease covers on my front hubs pushed the center cap of the wheel off. So, the center cap needs removed before mounting the wheels on the car unless you don't mind it getting knocked off onto the ground. See the picture. But, I fitted one to the 300, which has the Scarebird disk brake conversion and Ford front rotors, and they fit without hitting.

Here are some pictures of the Monaco I took the day after I drove it home two years ago. I haven't done much to it except add a dual master cylinder, new exhaust, wheels and tires, and repair the heater core. I got the wheels and tires because I had to completely rebuild the brakes on the 300. I wanted to add disk brakes to the 300 and needed 15 inch wheels. The Boss didn't want mags on her car, so I took the cop car wheels with the new tires I got right after getting the Monaco and put them on the 300 and ordered mags and bigger tires for the Monaco.

It has a 383 auto, power windows and driver seat, AC, reverb radio and under 100,000 miles. It is straight and rust free, a good solid fifty something year old car.

Future plans include getting the AC working, disk brake conversion, and paint. It was originally silver with black top. The previous owner brush-painted it flat black and hand painted some graphics on it. He did a really good job on the graphics, but it doesn’t fit my tastes. I’m not worried about restoring it, so I’m thinking pale yellow with white top.

This is my daily driver and I just want to enjoy it without having to worry about keeping it perfect. I even got a trailer hitch for it so I can pull a small trailer and sell the Dakota.

Here’s more about the 300. I was wrong in my first post about how much it had been driven in the last few years. On 6/6/91 it had 66,082 miles according to the oil change sticker. Now it shows 70,952, so almost 5,000 miles in the last 29 years.

Here’s a picture of the front seat when I started cleaning it up. The passenger side has been cleaned, the center section is still dirty. It was very yellowed but cleans up nicely. There are no tears in it, just a small burn in the passenger front and one of the button covers is missing on the back seat..

There is a little rust behind the front wheels and around the rear wheels. The undersides are beautiful. It is in great shape for a 56 year old Indiana car.

Here is a picture of the fuel tank and the rusty gasoline I got out of it. Replaced the tank with one from Van’s. I went through ebay for it and got free shipping. I got the sending unit from Rock Auto.

The goal for this car is to keep it looking stock and using it for a fun summer cruiser.
