I should probably give a few more details on this setup as to why I had fitment issues...
I installed a Weiand 8008 intake manifold. I chose this unit because it's a lot cleaner looking than the Eddy intake. It has no valley or recess for the divorced choke element, and on the other side, no extra holes or anything. It's very clean looking to the eyes and has the same performance output as the Eddy. I then went with a new Eddy 1906 AVS2, which combined with the Weiand, put my overall height about 1" to 1.25" above stock. That was an issue with the air cleaner in general. I could close the hood, but the air cleaner was buried in the fiberglass insulation. To solve it, I used a Mr.Gasket 14x2" performance air filter. Combined with smaller 14" base plate, it left me with an unsilenced style which now dropped the overall air cleaner height down slightly below stock height. Which is great. It all looks stock.
Another issue was that the stock throttle bracket was 3 inches too low. So I had to fabricate my own throttle cable bracket out of 2 brackets Mancini Racing sells, as well as replace the spring mount and springs. I wanted to keep the kickdown rod, but the unit they sold was non-adjustable. So I bought the adjustable and combined the two.
So not only was there a problem with the air cleaner size, but the stock rigging was useless as well. A lot of this was totally unanticipated. I had no idea there would be that much height difference between the stock height and the new height..on top of the carb barrel size. But it all worked out.
Also found out my vacuum advance unit was shot, which I replaced with the correct unit from Halifax Hops.
All-in-all, it was some trouble, but it was very worth it. I now have an electric choke, the carb is tuned and runs great...great throttle response and it all looks stock. I had a lot of issues with my Carter AFB, choke, could not get the idle mixture correct, it leaked ..after 2 rebuilds ..I was done. Time to move on.
