I was just browsing thru You Tube and found this video. Going to see the races on the salt flats was one of my bucket list things to do! It would be tragic if this institution disappears after so long!:sad3::angry7::soapbox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-Z6Fhg2B_o

The gov't and the potash mine don't seem to give a crap about the Bonneville Salt Flats. This is the second year in a row that the August event has been cancelled, due to the conditions. There was only 2-1/4 miles of useful racing surface this year, as compared to over eight in previous years.

I hope to see racing at Bonneville and El Mirage on my retirement tour.

I went to Bonneville as a spectator in 2010 with my family. Spent three days on the salt, and met a LOT of the coolest people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Several guys from OK were working on records, and one guy was less than a tenth of a second in setting a record in his motorcycle class. We got to see the 403.037 mph run on our last day there. You need to go at least one time in your life - every real car guy's "bucket list" must-do!

El Mirage is next. We plan to go next September.
