It would seem that fitting a standard set of steel rims (from an all drum brake 69 Newport) to my 70 Newport (disc brakes up front) is fine for the rear but will not fit around the front callipers!! the inner wheel profile is definitely different on the roadwheels compared to an all drum brake pre-rotor vehicle set of wheels!! ....just thought i'd share!!

I found that out the hard way when I was trying to put the wheels from my old 68 fury onto my 71 sport fury.

At least I got a really good deal on new tires when I traded the old ones

Is there a difference in the rim size? I think you need 15" to clear disc brakes.
14 inch wheels will clear the disc brakes if they are "disc brake" wheels. As Golden Banana said: the inner wheel profile is different.
I had the same problem trying to put a spare wheel from a 1967 New Yorker on to a 1976 New Yorker.
The difference is barely noticeable unless the wheels are sitting side by side for comparison.
