I just put a 440 in my Polara. It was a 383. Does anyone know if the kick down that runs along the firewall down to the transmission is a different length for a 440 vs. a 383? Or do I just need to make an adjustment on where it attaches to the carb? Thanks!

As John mentioned, you will need the correct kickdown linkage.

If you are not worried about be "correct" (not original motor anyways)
I can suggest using the Lokar kickdown cable.
Not difficult to install and adjustments are made easy at the throttle linkage.
Just make sure you order the correct length of cable.
Hope this helps.

Thanks. I knew it was a taller block, but wasn’t sure if I could adjust at the top to compensate.

You mentioned to make sure I get the right length. Do they make one that is specific to a 440/727 combination? Is your link to that part? Thanks in advance!

My link is just for a reference.
I suggest talking to Lokar or Summit to find which length you need.
Hope this helps

I'd just find the stock rod. The top and bottom are good, just the center upright will be different.

I second the lokar cable, you'd have to 100 percent sure you've got the right linkage, otherwise adjustment is a bear

Went with the Lokar throttle and kick down cables. So far, I’m pretty happy with them. Summit Racing has there own ones that are less expensive than the Lokar, but are made by lokar. Weird, but whatever
