Kinda got a lift...
After a long hot summer here in Georgia with much more work than I had envisioned, I "Kinda" have a driver....
After the lift survey in June, I have completed-
New- exhaust, steering gear (Lares), steering hoses, pitman arm, outer tie rod ends, front brake calipers, rear brake hardware, all brake hoses, transmission mount, radiator, radiator hoses, fuel tank, fuel sender, left spindle and bearings, all drive belts, alternator, starter.
The timing chain was inspected and found to be an aftermarket double chain version. I believe this and the cam were changed by whoever had the heads off. The valve cover gaskets were replaced- again! This time I used the Tennessee Real silicone gaskets. These work great!. I will be using these on my other cars! The water pump was found to be a newer Mopar service pump and reinstalled. Everything disassembled on the front of the engine was painted before reassembly. Power antenna cleaned and greased. The firewall was stripped down on both sides, with all cowl and AC box area rust repaired.
The AC was serviced with new evaporator, heater core, original compressor rebuilt, new hoses, conversion to R134. The condenser was tested, cleaned, painted, and reinstalled. The ATC was converted to manual AC. (I will post a detailed write-up on this topic).
I removed the window tint, scrubbed 10 years worth of grime off, and sent the ole girl for an appointment at the local auto shine.
Her dignity has been partially restored with the polish, and a proper set of Mopar steel wheels fitted with proper whitewalls and 76 NYer hubcaps.......
She has come a long way from this sad state-
With still a long way to go! I recently acquired a parts car that will give me most of what she needs to return to her 'as built' status- including her lost M51 Sunroof and W23 Road Wheels!. She is a work in progress, but fun to drive never the less....
