My search for a set of wheels led me to a salvage yard only 2.5 miles from me. The yard is not visible from the road and the run down Parts office building always has a "closed" sign in the window. They do keep erratic hours though and it took about four calls to get in. Nice guy with eclectic tastes in cars. I did get a set of four 15 X 7 M body wheels for the Polara.
Man theres still great stuff there! Its the Dodge truck guy in me but I would be grabbin all the good Dodge truck body parts I could. Especially that short box!
I ran into a classic car graveyard about 5 years ago, with dozens of cars from every decade. I honestly can't remember where it was, but I remember texting one of my brothers, and I told him "heaven does indeed exist.. I'm there now." the only way it would have been better is if it was mopar-only
that's awesome thanks for sharing but how did you not know of this yard before since its only a couple miles away. I would have been able to smell them from that far.
That's an old collection! What is that bubbletop? A Pontiac ? With blinds none the less! I'm pretty sure that '71-'74? Roadrunner? Hood, covering the Stutz? Is worth something. Anyone know what that aluminum frame is from?
Looks like a nice place to take a walk in the cool weather... I bet it's hell in the height of summer though.
Neat place Will, thanks for documenting your visit. That yellow Auburn replica thing has the wheels I’ve been not searching too hard for...
I didn't inquire about it because... "Hello, My name is Will, and I'm a car-oholic". I'd just end up with another vehicle I don't need. I will likely break down and inquire about it.
Yes, Pontiac. 59 or 60 I believe. I've seen those blinds one other time in a 57 Mercury, in a New Mexaco salvage yard. I wonder what happened when going down the road at 70 MPH and then opening the window..... I may go back on the hood. It looked to be in nice condition. The frame is a early 50's MG. Not aluminum but painted silver.
I moved down here full time about a year ago after spending the winter here for several years. I've driven past this yard several times. The building almost looks abandoned and sits in a lot full of huge oak trees. Faded "auto parts" sign out front. The yard itself is not visible from the road. I found it on a google search.
