There's a guy in one of the FB groups (either a c-body group or a monaco/polara group) that has a 1965 (either monaco, polara or chrysler) that had a poly 318. He's taken the poly out and trying to install an LA, and I guess it's to be expected that no regular LA motor mounts are going to work, but he says not even his original mounts from the poly will work with his '65 stub and the LA 318. Is this also to be expected?

Related . . . do the Poly A mounts have similar differences to later mounts as the 1965 B/RB mounts do?

Wondering if somebody in the catalog generation department considered that as the LA appeared in 1964, it was "everywhere" rather than being transitioned to replace the Poly A several years later? Perhaps Uncle Tony might know?

Just some suspicions,

Maybe it's just me - but has anyone written / posted on FCBO about having a 413 in a '65 Monaco / Polara? Maybe this FB guy thought he had a poly when in fact he had a 413?

Everything I'm readying says that his poly mount brackets should fit an LA 318.

i swear when we put the 360 in our 65 fury race car in place of the poly I had to create one motor mount...since it was a race car we ran solid mounts so I just welded something up ...over 30 yrs ago so i don't remember specifics or know the correct fix....maybe adapter mounts were available back then when doing stuff like this was more common

The 1965 Polara/Monaco Dealer Order Guide of 1965 (www.hamtramck-historical.com) indicates NO 318s in those cars. 383 2bbl was the standard engine, with a 413 4bbl and 426-Street being optional. Full-size Plymouths seem to be the only uses of any 318 or Slant 6 in C-bodies that model year.

Not to be flaky, but perhaps the FB poster does not know what is in the car? Which explains the different lh mount!

Enjoy,

NOTE: As @Ross Woodridge pointed out, CANADIAN Dodges came with Poly 318s, yet the FB poster did not mention if his car was North American or Canadian.

I don't know about the 1965 Poly, but the LA318 that I put in a '57 Belvedere bolted right up. The '57 mounts from the poly 301 (same as 318) bolted nicely to the LA318 with no issues. The LA318 was a 1974 motor and I installed it with the 904 torqueflite it came with. I did fabricate a tranny mount to bolt it up.
