loosely mirror

My drivers side mirror housing, loosened from the base and is now rattling. I guess there is a screw nut behind the mirror glass that has to be tightened up?
Any guesses on how to remove the glass without destroying anything?

I´ve got the square version

take the mirror off the door and tighten it up from inside the "leg".
dont take the glass out, you cant tighten it from behind the mirror

So i have to remove the door panel? I hoped that it´s not going to be necessary Had some bad experience with my former ´66 on that.
