Saw some people passing the forest fire on their way to work. What an unreal sight to come upon at zero dark thirty in the morning!

If this burns for days and it may well do so, they could be in serious trouble. They HAVE to figure out an economical way to convert ocean water.

Remind me again what is the attraction of living in California? It almost seems you are better off living in a desert than in an area prone to drought. I hope everyone affected stays safe.

I saw a 60 Minutes segment on the ground collapsing in Ca because so much underground water is being siphoned off for agricultural use. The people making money were the water drillers, who kept pitting neighbor against neighbor, charging for deeper and deeper wells.

Then the chilly winds blew down across the desert
Through the canyons of the coast to the Malibu
Where the pretty people play hungry for power
To light their neon way and give them things to do

Some rich man came and raped the land, nobody caught 'em
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes and, Jesus, people bought 'em
And they called it paradise, the place to be,
They watched the hazy sun sinking in the sea

And you can see them there on Sunday morning
Stand up and sing about what it's like up there
They called it paradise, I don't know why
You call some place paradise, kiss it goodbye

Last Resort. Really great song! Everyone talks about earthquakes but these fires are a much bigger threat to the people of California. Hope the winds die down soon so the fire fighters can get a handle on it. I know a bunch of Arizona firefighters are heading over to help out. Everyone stay safe.

I'm in California and I can say the water I use belongs to be, not stolen from some other region.
The City of Lompoc is 100% local well water, even in the middle of one of the worst droughts our wells (the natural aquifer) were well above the needed levels. The state still mandated rationing, we are part of a 900 square mile watershed that isn't siphoned off or dammed.

The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake
As the children of the sun began to awake.
Seems that the wrath of the Gods
    Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow;
I think I might be sinking.
