Hi Folks.
I joined the site recently after many years of watching the site with great interest. I have collected a few cars over the years..just things I liked from my formative years starting when I became aware cars were "pretty neat", even before I learned girls were pretty neat too.
My Dad had me under the hood of his new 1964 (it was 1965 but it was "new" to us) Pontiac GTO, 389 "Tri-Power". I was safely tucked under his arm, both of us under the hood while he was revving the engine..I recall wind and noise of course, but most of all it was "thrilling". My mother bolted from the house screaming and broke up the party, but it was too late. I already was a gearhead for life.
So I have been hooked on cars ever since, including even the not-so-nice things we did in my uncle's '70 Imperial one fine summer evening in 1975 around midnight. No, not the 'backseat" stuff of youthful "exuberance", but learning that a 440 could do "do-nuts" endlessly (and loudly) in the school parking lot, or at least until the Staties showed up and introduced me to the "backseat" of a C-body Gran Fury police car...for the first and last time as a result of being in trouble at least.
Anyway, while I like most anything old and cool, most of the "fleet" is from 1965 through 1983, all American V8's of the largest displacement made at the time. My C-bodies are from 1967 to 1978. So this site obviously covers and specializes in that era of vehicle. I'm happy to be a part of the experience for as long as I can.
My best to all of you. Thanks in advance to any member who posts a welcome.
