Looks like these are suffering the same fate as the common muscle cars. They move around the country from dealer to dealer and never seem to find permanent homes.

I see that the top one is touted as the highest optioned Hurst built. I see no cornering lamps, no console, no tilt wheel, no power locks. I'm doubting his claim.

One very odd thing that I've noticed is that the majority of Hursts appear to have two speed wipers. Most C Bodies, even low-option Dodges and Plymouths often have the three speed wipers. With all the C Bodies that I've owned, not one had two speed wipers.

In another thread on 300-Hurst vehicles, I'd suspected that they were all ordered by Hurst with one set of equipment, then retailed to the dealer network. But that's not apparently how it went, as was pointed out in that earlier thread. It seems that the owner/ordering dealer spec'd the vehicle and THEN added the "Hurst Equipment" of paint and trim. Not quire as I would had suspected.

It could well have been that there were some basic restrictions in order to get the "Hurst Equipment". Like the optional 440/375. TF, Power Windows (after the issue of the window crank handle hitting the Imperial seats was noted), and W23 16-Slot Class II Road Wheels? Past that, everything was "open game"?

Just some thoughts,

This 74 New Yorker got bid up to $8,000. No sale. I think that was all the money for this one. A little better detailing might bring up the value slightly if everything works on it IMO.

This is that 78 NYB that’s been kicking around for $20k+.... Nice but the color combo is killing it. White and green interior is just horrible IMO.

Beautiful Fury!!

This was an incredibly original Town&Country I will be following. Very low miles and completely original from what I could see. I got yelled at by the staff for touching it....

Fantastically well restored cars like this were fairly rare. Lots of beaters and flipper cars and really strange mix of cars for the first day without many of the usual suspects.

This 73 is right at the edge of restorable. Paint was fresh and thick..... and beginning to split on the cowl. Best thing about this one was that it looked to be very straight and have a fairly rust free body. I wouldn’t give more than $2.5k for it though. No sale at whatever it got bid to.... it was in the “after bid” area without notation. Update is that it got bid up to $3500 which puts me out.

Interesting that the '73 "CHRYSLER" lettering back on front in above pic...think the original MECUM pic had them missing and a chrome strip was uneven on the nose...maybe last minute prep before auction...think it still stalled at 6K. Nice one though...

I wouldn’t mind seeing more of that 22k mile long roof.

Please check the fitment of the drivers side chrome mouldings on this Fury. Their was a bit of question of whether they were aligned properly or if the door was ajar. Lol

I'd say the front end was binged pretty good at some time in it's life.

Even with the noticeable body issues noted and potential hidden issues (rust?)...this one would be worth acquiring, restoring and keeping for long time...IMO. That is, IF the seller isn't asking much more than 6K. But, I don't know where this one will end up if seller goes home with no sale...I forgot what the Mecum Auction fees are to list as a seller...probably not cheap...

It's funny that they would use the old Hemmings photos in the Mecum site, then fix the emblems.

Wonder if they did a quick re-dye of the carpets too. :poke:

Just had a quick geeez,

Bidder Registration fee $100/$200, - $500, Authorization-Only Hold,- $100 fee applied to all wire transfers, - At Event (Standard) 10%, - bidding via telephone or internet 12%, - Credit Card Surcharge 3% etc. etc. (no mention of cypto)

I just went through a bunch of ConParts YouTube videos of many unhappy buyers with all their fees LOL.

Anyone know what that blue wagon brought$$??

You can get great cars from any of the Mecum shows on Thursday and Friday.

Funny how the 07 Charger R/T right after the Chrysler struggled to get going at 3k, then off the block begging for 6.5k no sale.

According to Doc´s post, this 73 NYB (all 2dr Ny´ers in 73 were Broughams) does not have the C-pillar medallions, so maybe the vinyl top has been replaced without paying attention to details.
Also its tires are black walls...
