Maggie May is my girlfriend's 1969 Plymouth Fury II 2 door Sportsroof hardtop.
(Edit;Maggie nick named her car Frankie but I call her Maggie May)
My girlfriend's name is Margaret. She was born in May of 1969.
Coincidentally, the original owner's name was Margaret!
When Maggie realized she and the original owner share the same name she ordered personalized plates 50EIGGAM.
Use your imagination and figure it out..LOL!

Since Maggie and I have been together, she saw the car side of me and got bug to own a classic car. I am such a bad influence!!
Attending cars shows and experiencing the camaraderie of the old car world she understood my world and gets it.
She got to drive the 66 300 a few times and was hooked.
It made her feel free from the day to day bullshit and noticed that driving a cool classic breaks down walls and opens up people to be more sociable. It also reminded her of her Dad and felt closer to him.

So she set out the perimeters...gotta be 2 door,be a 69 model, running and driving, and require minimal work. (Plus something I am familiar working on to boot.)
So,I knew about this car a few years back. I was in the middle of the BoaB resto and separating from my now ex-wife.
I was going to buy it from the original family but a friend of mine beat me to it!
No hard feelings and we kept in touch.
When I mentioned to Maggie about this car we looked at it.
My friend had it parked in the barn for 5 years and admitted he may never get to doing anything with it.
He never transferred the title so technically Maggie is the second owner.
We struck a deal and now she is in our hands!
First few pics is how we found her. Barn fresh...

The vinyl top was removed by my friend prior to us buying it since there are holes near the rear window.

Nice score !! And my favorite Fury year LOL! Congrats! Interesting as it has no head rests and I guess shoulder belts as mine. I guess mine was later in the year? It appears to be a Fury III of course. Looks to be in nice shape. Any more details and pics?

She has a reman 318 hooked to the original 727 and 8-3/4 open rear.
Power drum brakes,power steering.
A nice simple little old lady's car.

Early build,Windsor,Canada built. Typical fender tag that is vague .
Being an early build,no headrests and does not have the vinyl inserts in the body side moldings.

Nice project Leaburn! Guess it's time to "Wake Up Maggie, I think you got something to do to her It's early September and you really should be back at the garage"...

A little history about Maggie may..
Original owner was Margaret Moore. She kept the car till she passed away and her son inherited it.
The car was always parked inside, never winter driven and was well loved .
The interior is original. Sometime in the 90's after inheriting the car the son treated the car to a paint job, rechromed the bumpers.
Not sure when, but the original 318 blew up and a reman motor was installed by a Chrysler dealership in the Toronto area.
As time went by,the son was moving to British Columbia and put the car up for sale.
I saw the ad early in the morning one day before going to work. I checked the ad again at lunch and she was sold!
My buddy Johnny bought the car!
The son had the car parked outside for a year since he sold the house and had no proper storage. the car suffered a damaged vinyl top and blemished showed up in the paint.
Johnny took the car home with the intentions of flipping it quickly.
He did a carb rebuild, tune up and painted the engine.
He ripped the bubbling top off ,ordered a new top,and repaired the baked vinyl of the top of the back seat.
Well, more cars came and went through Johnny's garage and the Fury was put in the barn and almost forgotten about.
But I never forgot about her. I did some work for Johnny in the past and always admired the Fury's excellent condition.
So now Maggie has the car I wanted to buy years ago!!
Here's Maggie and Maggie May!! Pulled out to get ready to their next chapter of adventures!!

Maggie May sat dormant for years so a little prepping was necessary.
The gas in the tank was stale so I hooked a small gas can to the fuel pump.
Pulled the plugs and put oil down the cylinders to avoid a dry start.
Checked all fluids, brand new battery, primed the carb and after a while she kept running on her own!

First thing to do after she came back to life is a bath!!

We took the side roads driving slowly after the brake pedal decided to go to the floor (yeah stupid but done it before).
I drove while Maggie took the pics from her SUV.

I secured a garage with a hoist where we can get Maggie May fixed and ready for the road.
List of repairs include drop and flush the gas tank, new tires, brake master cylinder, pull back window and repair the holes.then new vinyl top.
