Answer .... Because it is the only way you could get one . I believe the total made was 200. IF Chrysler had made them from the factory, I assure you, more would have been sold.

I understand that was the only way to get it as a vert.
I'm saying that a chop shop vert converted from a hardtop doesn't have the structural integrity of a vert that was designed and built by Chrysler.

I dont know if they reinforced the structure, I would presume they would have to from a liability standpoint .
But look at it .... Gorgeous .

C'mon, Dave. Look at the top cover. The proportions are ugly.
But I already know I'm talking to the wall. :p

A convertible is not made for the top to be up. Look at the car objectively , not as a car but rather a convertible.

The convertible version looks imbalanced to me, whereas I like the hardtops. Too tail heavy with all that stuff piled up on the back. No thanks.

Aside from looks, with ANY unit-construction vehicle, how they did the conversion and compensated for the "loos of roof" would be important. This is a good bit different than the T-bar roof conversion!

The other deal is what source did they use for the rubber weatherstrips, hydraulics, lines, and convertible top framework? Where to get that stuff in the future?

In the later '70s, there was a company in FL that would "covertrible-ize" many non-GM cars. Lincoln Marks, '77-era Cordobas, etc. Might have been the same place that did these?

I wish the later Cordoba "300" (not called that by Chrysler) were nicer cars, interior-wise, and looked more Chrysler-like in that area. Still, that white "300" would be a nice car to have. NO worries about additional skin issues (as we age) or hail storms (if you happened to be on a trip).

In general, I like the Mirada better than the Cordoba on that body. Crimson Red metallic, and the Mirada wins!

*prefer you text me first to screen out scam calls*

I bought this car from the owner in British Columbia where the Queen of England doesn't allow road salt. Same weather as Washington state. Thus, no rust.

Owner met me in Seattle on April 10th and I drove the car down the west coast to a big Mopar show in Los Angeles. (Isn't that better than a gay rental import?) I then drove it to a friend's house in Phoenix, AZ. Over 1800 miles with no mechanical problems. Surprisingly good mileage as well! Michigan title in my name.

318 4-bbl (Canadian engine option) 3.23 sure-grip, buckets, console, T-tops, and all power options. Car originally had a tan interior, but was swapped to red from a low-miles parts car. Sale includes the (nice) red dash and a ton of extra parts. (tuff wheel!) Also a replacement right bumper shock (currently shoved in and stuck). All the plastic filler panels are soft and in great shape, no cracking. This car could be excellent in a few weekends if taken on by the right person.

I have too many projects, so my friend and I are trying to sell it on both ends of the county. My price is cheaper because it does not include shipping. A good mechanic could drive it back home, or ship it for a grand. Get in touch for more details, I have more and better photos.

Here are the names of cars I like... Charger Cuda Road Runner GTX Coronet Challenger Newport New Yorker Imperial Fury Polara Monaco Duster Valiant Magnum Dart Demon Daytona Spirit Shadow Sundance Omni 440 Hemi 340 360 /6 RT SE Regal Grand National Cutlass Monte Carlo Grand Prix T-bird Cougar Mustang and all Chrysler Minivans; Caravan and Town & Country

This is a spitting image of the last company lab car that I ordered during my time at Chrysler. I truly loved that car as well, more than the 300. If I ever see a Cordoba like this one in really nice shape, I would get it. They went bankrupt in 1980 and the California research and testing laboratory where I was working closed up in the middle of 1981. I was the last guy to leave, and shut off the lights for the last time - I actually cried. It was a good run. I had an offer to go back to Detroit, but couldn't do it, as much as I loved the company. It was the right choice for me.

I had only ever seen one as a Frank, so the colors leave me "meh". But in white...oh mama.

Somebody should cross post this thread to FFMJ's.com so they can feel the love.
