Went over to the Moorhead Cruise night to meet up with @Polara_500 ’s son to pick up the seat belt winders he graciously got for me. (Thanks again)
There were a few Mopar’s and a couple of beautiful Chargers for sale, and a guy that was telling me about some of the unique cars and trucks he has.
I will start with picture of the only C-body there.

I know shameless.

I will start with the for sale Chargers.
‘68 Charger. RR1 burgundy Metallic with a black top. Beautiful original black interior. 440 Magnum with a/c. Automatic. I think she said around 70, miles? Her parents bought it around 89. Looked like a great repaint. $140k

The other was a ‘69 Red Charger. 440 Magnum, automatic, black top and interior. Great shape. Not sure if original paint (it could have been) or an old respray. $90 or $95k. A little more than a great c-body.

Now about the story. I was talking to a guy about my Polara. He said he has ‘68 Polara ND highway patrol car. His dad knew the officer and when the car went up for State auction he bought it. He was about 10 when he went with his dad to pick it up from a downtown warehouse. It hasn’t run for a number of years as he said his dad stepped on it one time and the carb flooded over burning some wires. He isn’t ready to sell or fix up as he has other projects of more value to do first.
Some of the notables, a ‘76 Minnesota Vikings edition Power Wagon. Only sold through the Minnesota region sales office.

A “one of one” ‘78 diesel Ramcharger, RH drive 2wd. The story was that it was made by Chrysler to try and get a post office bid that never materialized.
Also a 78 Dodge Rod Hall special edition. Only 14 of the planned 1500 got into customers hands before the NTSB shut them down for not crash testing with the new suspension. He also has one of Rod Hall’s first course prep /scout vehicles that would run the course to help set up the truck (I may not have it 100% correct) He also talked about the second edition as well that only 33 got into customer hands. I don’t know if he has one of those as well or not

Any way very interesting conversation. He said he has about ‘60 cars and trucks. So with some of the big hitters the Polara will sit a while. (He has only sold one of the cars that he has collected so far). I would like to see the collection. And the Polara would make a good project for me.

Oh and he does have a 70 Hurst, and 73 New Yorker.

You gotta go there, you just gotta. Take pictures, get tag info and buy something!

At least go and look.
I've seen so many collections and been told NO lots of times.
Always worth a look!

Thanks for all the other pics!

Last time I waz in Moorhead waz January of '78 and they were rationing #1 to only 25 gallons every 24 hours. Foot and half of the white crap, wind blowing at about 'bout 25 MPH. And the two thermometers out side on the wall of the fuel desk, One said 39* and the other said 41* BELOW. Ask me if I remember that weekend. La Cross on the T.V. News in the restaurant said they bottomed out that Saturday night at -65 actual. Jer

A year later I went to another Moorhead, MN Cruise night. I like them better when they line the street vs the parking lot.

Anyway there were 3 C-bodies including mine plus a 64 Body Polara 500.

Mine’68 Polara
65 Fury II or III? I don’t remember
And a beautiful 66

And a Ford
Real GT 40. A later model / S/N than the Leman’s winner. And had modern disc brakes and suspension. Drive train cowling and interior were supposedly correct.
It was interesting watching the guy get out. He was about 6’5”. Then some lady asked him how he gets into it. And he showed us. Steering wheel removed, stepson with both feet on the seat and works his way down.
