MrMopar goes Topless

Unless your Monaco came with that dashpad, could you tell us where you got the correct one with the stitching going across the top? Last time I looked ABC Moparts did not make that version, so I am guessing that Just dashes might have done yours? If so, they are doing much better that what I have seen in the past. Beautiful Monaco!

Yes the dash pad was done by Just Dashes, they also did the one in the CHP car.

That is good news since I am planning to need mine redone in the not too distant future on my 1969 Monaco 2 door hardtop - yours reflects that Just Dashes had improved compared to what I have seen in the past.
 
No real update, been busy getting my house ready for sale. With that I need to make all the cars highway worthy and weather tight.

First up was to reattach the top to the body where it was removed to do bodywork.
The first problem was that for some reason I buried the rails so deep in storage that I couldn't find them.

So I got a couple lengths of 1"x1/8" metal and drilled some holes. This top was not installed correctly previously so this will work as good as it was.

They were bent and some grip tape just for extra measure.

Took a little work to get them in and the bolts lined up. Once it was all attached the flap was tucked into the gutter.

Not perfect (probably as good as it was) but will suit its purpose. A new top is the plan, will have to wait till after the move.

I then went by the local tire shop for an alignment and they were able to get to it right away. The technician is a Mopar guy and understands what it take to do a modern alignment on these cars.

Another thing that was needed to be done was to get the windows up, I had already messed with them and was not having any luck. I took my time and focused just on getting them up and not worrying about switches. A long pair of wire was used to hotwire them and get them up. The first one (right rear) was giving me issues and I was finally ably to locate the broken tooth that was jamming it up, I have goon over that gear many time with my finger and a brush, needless to say I got it and the window went up fully. With both windows up I noticed that the alignment was off, the door is maxed out. The quarter was already closed up so it'll be good enough for now.

With the right side do I needed to move the car so I could get to the other side (car is parked 3" away from the shelving) and it would not start, no spark.
I tried a new ballast and ignition module with no luck so I called on a friend. He goes through his test and determines that the ballast and coil were good.
Next he pulled the connector off the ignition module (Mopar) and takes a pick and closes the barrel connectors to get a solid connection, that was all it took.

After that I had limited time but was able to get the other two windows up.

Having an alignment I wanted to take the car out on a well rounded road test. I have a 90 mile loop that has everything from highways to narrow country roads with lots of twist and turns mixed with some city traffic.

Car preformed great, just need to look into the temperature, good gauge, almost no movement. We suspect the thermostat is bad or missing.

Are you still moving to Oregon? I think that's what I recall you mentioning a few years ago.....
