Because of the gas tank inside the frame rails I have decide to add a driveshaft safety loop for the rear universal joint. I had to create my own design. I stopped by my neighbor Steve’s house to see if he has a piece of steel to help. He did. Here he is working a 90 in it so it will bolt to my hoop. Then I got to weld a wider piece where it bolts to the frame. Should look very nice & secure the driveshaft. I am very fortunate to have Steve as a neighbor. He’s one of the best mechanics I’ve ever seen. I’ve learned from him. If you noticed all the LP’s & stereo equiptment. Steve has quite the collection of 60’s Motown & R&B. He’s got some cool music. Stuff I’ve never heard before that’s very good. Back in the 60’s Steve was in his 20’s. He rode a 68 Triumph bike. Looked like an old chopper. He just sold it a few years ago. He wore a German WW1 helmet when riding the bike. Said his hair went down to his belt. He worked at an African-American night club in Durham, NC. Fixed stuff by day & was in charge of entertainment at night. He kept all the audio equipment working. He said a lot of popular acts performed at the club including Ike & Tina. He said Ike was a bit strange & was high all the time but Tina was great & would talk to him a lot. He said if she saw him today she would remember him & give him a big hug. Anyway I thought I’d lntroduce you guys to Steve. He’s one cool cat with lots of stories. Yes he likes his Scuppernong. I got a cup full too.

Looks like the cat is looking on in approval, do I spy a early AMX or Javelin?

I got the ET streets installed & the driver side had a rub on the inner frame. So I got some spacers & longer lug studs. Installed all that today. Took the truck for a spin after a T storm passed. Everything seemed ok. However I noticed when I was installing the studs that the brake shoes are worn. So I got to replace those. It just never ends with these projects. LOL

sorry , thought the race car was getting it . but when have you ever had one break the u-joint and go sideways . i've had tranny's blow apart and toss the drive line . but that starts at the front u-joint . had one lock up the front pump at @100mph on the freeway with my foot init , that one twisted the bell housing and tall stock into little pieces . bent the trans cross member , pitched the drive line and jammed it up over the rear end . and cut the fuel line in half . got it wow'd and looked under from the rear . just to see gas pouring on the ground making a pool . and the trans pan was at a 45ish deg angle . i jammed a stick from the side of the road in the fuel line . and called my bud for a tow . at least it didn't server the rear brake hose , only had a single type master on it , put a built trans init , that broke a couple 8 3/4's . but it would roll bob , would you go @ 160mph in that p/u ? and turn 13 flat on 205/75-15 rear rubber had 165x15's up front . in this 37 dodge p/u before this got wrecked .

It’s just a street strip toy. Not a serious drag effort. I doubt I’ll ever break anything but just to be save. My current drag car is called FURYIOUS & a thread on it too.

i know bob , it just that that p/u's gas tank is right there along side of the drive line as your p/u's is . thats alot of years apart and still designed the same way . and my 60 d100 is the same also . right there running next too it . maybe i should do a strap or something too , lol !

Loaded up. Going to a rare Saturday night test n tune. Hoping the air will be good tonite. Track I’ve never been to. I’ve got it running pretty good. I’m going to deep stage it. So that will hurt some ET but still hoping it beats the best previous of 9.34
More important is that it will hook up & the trans will be consistent.
Wish me luck. FURYIOUS is nowhere near ready so this is it
