According to my mechanic, my 1974 Imperial LeBaron needs a new electrical unit that controls the vacuum routing of air to the various interior vents. He provided pictures which I will attempt to upload to this post . Its mounted to the heater box and is black in color.
Any help or advice in locating this part or otherwise correct this problem is much appreciated

Might Google that 7-digit Chrysler number on the unit?

Sounds more like the time delay for the defog system. If so, it only runs the compressor for a short time and basically not needed if it don't work.
This?

Is it mounted on the bottom of the heater box with two screws and a blue and brown wire hooked to the two terminals?
If so, it is the time delay relay that runs the compressor for a short time to de-fog the windows. That is all it does and really is no big deal if it don't work.
It is PN 2837697 and was used for a number of years on B & C bodies with AC
