OK I am getting flustered on tires/rim/hubcap. I have the original 14 inch rims but having a hard time finding the tires for it, small whitewalls and a 225/14 tires to fit. So I wonder if I got the 15 inch rims what my factory hubcap I could get. Is the "Disk Brake hubcap" the only choice? Could you get 15" rims as a option without the disk brakes? Or can I find 14" tires that will work other than 14 ply trailer tires? Do not want repo tires from Coke. They are fine for display but I want to drive this wagon as much/far as I can. Thank and now back to the brakes on the wagon (11X3). PS the NOS seal I got from Mr McGowan worked fine and now the transmission shifts fine into reverse.

The tallest radial tires for 14's that are from $80-$120 each
215/75R14 for whitewalls.
225/70R14, but these don't come in whitewalls.

I shop at Walmart online or tires-easy.com They will ship to your home, or a tire store.

Wish they made a 225/75R14

Yes the reproduction tires are way too much money.

Don't run trailer tires on a car.

I will not do trailer tires that is a rule. Original tire was 9.55/78/14". I am with you in that I want a 225/75(R)/14" But with whitewalls. Or even red walls....It is a white car and red will work. It is not the price of the repo's it is the lack of durability. I use to use Remington's on my Challenger with the raised white letter, but not on a New Yorker.

I have a set of 235/75R14 American classics wide whites. On the car when I bought it. Guy drove car a lot. About half tread left. They look in good shape and not edge worn.

Red walls would look odd on a wagon.

Several months ago, I asked my local tire dealer about the whitewall Hankooks and he said "about 1 day to get them". I was asking about P225/75Rx15, but as Hankook also has 14" whitewalls, those might be pretty much the same, I suspect. Being about an hour from Dallas, we have access to ALL of the major tire warehouses, so that might be an aid in this case.

Otherwise, look at TireRack, which also is part of the same organization as Discount Tire. HE said he can also order from both places, if needed. So look in the Hankook part of Tire Rack and then note the Kinergy ST model of tire, then the "WW" designation in the tire spec chart.

I do not like the pricing on repro tires, period. Way too high, even for a limited-use vehicle, where all fo that deep tread will be aged-out of use in 6-10 years. Which is why I always look for "normal" tires in production instead.

Your wagon should have 14x6.5" wheels on it, which is wider than any sedan ever had. Similarly, when Chrysler went to 15" wheels on everything (Fuselage and later years), those 15" station wagon wheels were 15x6.5". With 15" wheels, the only cars of your '65's siblings were the 1966 cars with factory front disc brakes. Seems like there are some similar wheel covers to those. Of course, a popular choice would be the 1970-1978 W23 Class II 16-Slot 15x6 Road Wheels. They never came on wagons from the factory, but some have used them on wagons. Finding some good ones can mean close to $600.00 or so, used. For the wheels, center caps, and trim rings. OR the 1976 Charger SE 15x6.5" (stamped with that size on the innards of the wheel!) Rallye Wheel. NOT the similar 15x7" wheels that were popular on E-body Challengers and 'Cudas, which can be expensive, but can be bought new repro.

End result, there are 15" wheel options out there as there are for 15" whitewall tires. Then the decision is whether or not to use black steel wheels with factory wheel covers or the styled steel 15" wheels instead. Nothing will be "inexpensive" as they were 30 years ago.

Just some thoughts,
